About Myself

My name is Carmen Howell and I am a wife and mother of three wonderful children. My husband and I built our home together in 1997-98 and started planting trees for our Christmas Tree Farm. The next year I planted our first garden. I remember planting six zucchini plants that year and having zucchinis coming out of our ears! We had chickens at the time, so everyday I would shred zucchinis. Boy, did the chickens enjoy that! Anyway, I also planted my first birdhouse gourds.
The next summer, after they had dried out, I remember painting and making birdhouses out of them for birthday presents.  That year I planted apple gourds, snake and swan gourds.  That's how it all began. A few years later I did a few craft fairs and then joined our local Gourd Patch Club.  I've participated in the Ohio Gourd Society Show that is held the last weekend of September every year at the Darke County Fair Grounds in Greenville, OH since 2006.  If you are ever in the area that weekend, be sure to come and find me and my booth and say hello.

I also love flowers and belong to the local Wildflower Garden Club.  I work part-time outside of the home and starting in 2007 we have been selling our Christmas Trees during the holiday season.  So, like many of you, I keep very busy and time just keeps flying by...
